FAQ

Q.  What do you use to draw the comics?
A.  From 2011 through November 2013 I primarily used the Microsoft Paint program.  Until June 2021 I used GIMP (kind of like Photoshop).  Presently, I use Clip Studio Paint.  Since January 2016 I've also been using a Wacom tablet (before then, I used my laptop's mouse pad).  Occasionally I'll also post comics with hand-drawn elements, primarily in pencil and watercolor.

Q.  What's with all the vampires?
A.  Um, I'm actually not sure.  I just get a kick out of making jokes at their expense.

Q.  Who are Steve and Mel?
A.  Steve and Mel are a pair of characters originating from a 2011 Thanksgiving cartoon, who wound up becoming recurring characters and ultimately taking on lives of their own.  Steve is a long-suffering young man who has the misfortune of being related to vampires.  Mel is his girlfriend, who later wound up with a pair of roommates (Carmine and Pearl), who are a vampire and vampire hunter, respectively.  Together they fight against the forces of blood-sucking insanity.

Q.  What is the "Deity-of-Death Fest"?
A.  In the first year of doing this blog, I decided I wanted to do something for the month of October that was Halloween-y, but was different from the vampire-laden nonsense that went on during the rest of the year.  The result was a series of cartoons featuring the Deities of Death from various mythologies, including but not limited to the Grim Reaper, Hades (and Persephone), Thanatos, Hel, Anubis, and Sedna.

Q.  What's the story behind the "High School Lessons"?
A.  These just started out as silly doodles I did back when I was actually in high school.  This evolved into a loose storyline depicting the lives of the students at Westpoint High School, where they face heavily armed teachers, bloodthirsty marmots, and exams.  It probably comes as absolutely no shock to hear that it's also Steve and Mel's former high school.  In September 2020, it became its own series on Webtoon.

Q.  Who is Anni Seed?
A.  As explained here, Anni is a 1930s cartoon mule deer fawn who in-universe was brought to life and now hangs out with Andrew, her animator's descendant.  She has absolutely no qualms about abusing the Rules of Funny or warping reality on a whim.  She has three cousins of sorts:  Pepper Mint, a female reindeer, Chen Pi, a female Chinese water deer, and Cory Ander, a fallow deer buck.  For a more detailed story, go here.

Q.  Who are the characters on the banner?
A.  Sid the Tribal Pig, Ariel the Alien, Neo the Cat, Frond the Rabbit, Sonata the Unicorn, Splatter the Dog, Corra the Vampire, and Roxy the Parasaurolophus.  In August 2014 they were joined by Harmony the Werewolf, Jubilee the Android, Stella the Bilby, and Acinonyx the Superhero. Yes, I named them all, because it amused me.

Q.  About that soul-eating unicorn...?
A.  Do not question the soul-eating unicorn.

Q.  No, seriously...
A.  Do NOT question the soul-eating unicorn.

Q.  Have people ever actually asked these questions?
A.  Well, no...  But they might.
