The elves tend to be under a lot more pressure to stay on the "nice" list than regular folks. So the fact that Santa hasn't bothered to put an end to this yet means they're
probably still safe. And possibly possess super clean-up magic so this sort of thing isn't as big of a deal as it looks, in which case I'm very jealous.
